Alhamdulillah..
it's been a month since Melbond Games and everyone have long since recovered from the aches and bumps and bruises... hopefully the torn trackies have been sewn and the broken spectacles have been mended by now.. to those who are not familiar with melbond games; NO, there's no extreme sports involved.. just your normal everyday basketball, netball and volleyball.. it's just that our sisters are a very enthusiastic bunch and they go all out in everthing they do.. (and that includes studying too.. right, girls?).
so on June the 1st 2008, everyone gathered at the melbourne uni sports centre.. all hyped up to represent and play for their respective sports clubs (kauthar, rayyan, rayhan, rawdhah, tasneem and salsabeel). It was great to see sisters from all over Australia also joining in the excitement. Well, it's that time of the year and we've got people from interstates. they just keep coming back for more.. i just dont know what to say.. heheh.. But it's really amazing to see how fast we clicked with the sisters we've barely gotten to know. well, that's Ukhuwwah Fillah for you. thicker than blood..
so.. after everyone got into their own groups, we started off the day with a short reminder for one of our sisters. She talked about how every single thing we do can be an ibadah.. and that very well includes palying sports. the only thing to make sure is that our intention is correct i.e only for the sake of Allah and it's done according to syara' (no free mixing between the sexes, aurat is covered, etc). Simple?
The aerobics team then took center stage, leading the warm up session... it was straight to the games after that; basketball and volleyball.. The agility, the speed, the precision... MasyaAllah.. A great amount of talent we've got. Alhamdulillah, Allahuakbar... Praises to Allah evrytime a point is scored, or a good save was made, or anything... thank you Allah for giving us this gift of good health..
After the break for zuhur prayers and lunch, it was time for netball and traditional games (lompat getah). It's been years, and i mean a whole lot of years, since we last played 'lompat getah'.. fond memories of primary school days flooded our minds. aahh.. the innocence.. ;)
at about 4 p.m.. evryone was herded out to the field for Asar prayers, then the prize-giving ceremony.. how time flies when we're having fun. hopefully, it wasnt JUST fun.. hopefully we were 'having fun while having iman'.. (heheh.. down memory lane).. so.. the results for the Games are as follows:
basketball- raudhah SC
netball- rayyan SC
volleyball- kauthar SC
traditional games- Salsabeel SC
We also had a special award for the 'olahragawati harapan'.. And it went out to.. drum rolls........ Farina from Macquarie! she played very well in the court and at the same time, carried herself very well as a muslimah. Congratulations to farina and may she be a good role model for us.
so.. thats it for the report on Melbond Games. Hopefully it benefited us all.. stronger bones and closer bonds, InsyaAllah.....
